Important Playoff Seeding Information

Due to the length of our season and competitive nature of our league, only four teams will make the  Roundball Playoffs.

For this reason there are a few seeding rules to be aware of:

FIRSTLY
At the end of the regular season if two teams are tied for the fourth place position, we will look at which team won against the other during regular season play. This winning team will therefore take the fourth place position and make it into the Roundball Playoffs.

SECONDLY
If a rare seeding circumstance takes place, whereby teams are tied for the fourth and final position and they have played each other twice in the regular season and both had gained a victory. We will then calculate the point differences of all games played by the teams throughout the  regular season. The team with the lowest total accumulated point differential will advance into the Roundball Playoffs.

To conclude..EVERY GAME COUNTS! so play hard.

Feel free to contact our staff if any of these Roundball Seeding Rules are unclear.

The Battle Continues...

Double Overtime Thriller

Game one of week 3 started with a bang as A Couple Dudes beat their Roundball rival's the Pinetree Blazers in a thrilling double overtime game. In the last seconds of the second overtime last year's season MVP Sam Zhang hit a buzzer beating 3 pointer to win the game for his team. Congrats and thanks to both teams on an amazing game as well as the incredible show of respect and sportsmanship for each other's squads. This was by far the most exciting Roundball Men's regular season game we have ever seen.  It was a pleasure to be a part of.

Roundball News

Important Roundball Rules To Consider

As many of you know our games have always had the tendency to come down to close and competitive last second battles to determine the winning team. For this reason here are a few important Roundball Rules to consider when the clock ticks down to these intense moments:

24 Second Shot Clock

A 24 second Shot Clock is in effect in the last 5 minutes of the game if the score is within a 10 point margin. If the defending team fouls the team with possession when the shot clock is anywhere below 14 seconds, then the shot clock will be reset back to 14 seconds. This is important to recognize when games are close and teams begin to draw more fouls.

Time Outs

During the course of the Regular Season a team is only allowed to use Two time outs throughout the entire course of the game. You may use your time outs whenever you choose, however use them wisely.
During the course of the Playoffs a team becomes allowed to use Three time outs throughout the entire course of the game. Again ensure that they are used wisely.

Foul Limits

It is the team's responsibility to be aware of how many team fouls they have committed through communication with the scorers table. On the 6th team foul of each half, a team is in the penalty which results in free throws for the opposing team. Likewise on an individual players 6th personal foul, he is ejected from the game.

Last Second Game Winners

If a last second shot takes place and in fact goes in the basket, The referee has the option to FIRST communicate with the time keeper at the scorers table to determine if In Fact the ball was out of the players hands before the buzzer sounded. He can then make the final decision based on his communication with the Time Keeper.

Surrey League Guidelines

IMPORTANT ROUNDBALL SURREY LEAGUE INFORMATION

The Surrey League 2012 schedule has been posted on our blog and will be up for the season as a reference for all players. In addition to this, please take note some of the important League Rules stated below:

Players must sign and abide by the Player Code of Conduct. Failure to abide by this document can result in a player being disqualified from the program with no reimbursement of registration fees.

Players can only receive reimbursement of their registration fee within the first week of Roundball games.

All Teams are allowed to add players to their roster up until the July 10th roster deadline. At this point no more players are allowed to be added to team rosters. It is recommended that all teams have at minimum 8 players on their roster come this deadline. If necessary a team can bring a drop in player to fill in a game for a fee of 5 dollars. A drop in player can only drop in on one occasion throughout the season and can not  continually attempt to drop in. They also can not register into the program after the roster deadline. There will be no drop in's allowed during the playoffs.

If a team is unable to show for their scheduled game, a Captain must notify a Roundball coordinator at least two hours before the scheduled game time so the opposing team can be notified of the cancellation. Please do this out of respect to the players in your league. No player would appreciate showing up to a game to find out their opponents are not even present.

Come game time if a team does not have 5 players present on the court, their team is disqualified. The remainder of the time will be used for a friendly scrimmage where statistics will not count.

It is the Captains responsibility to ensure his players understand these simple guidelines. For a smooth flowing season the captain is also responsible for being in communication with league coordinators regarding any other issues that pertain to the program.

We thank all players for their cooperation and expect another competitive Roundball Season!

News and Information

Week 3 - Roundball News and Information

Stated below are a few of the rules and information regarding Roundball Team Management and Statistics:

*Teams are still able to add players to their teams.

*Players are reminded that a new player can "drop in" for a fee of 5 dollars for the day. However that specific   player can only drop in once and must register into the Roundball program in order to play again. He will only be considered an "added" player to the roster once he has paid his registration fee in full.

*Players can expect new statistics to be posted mid way into the week on the players blog. If you have any particular concerns regarding this, don't hesitate to send us a message @ Roundball Hoopz on Facebook.

*At the end of the regular season only 4 teams will advance to the playoffs. If for a reason there is a tie in team standings, then the fourth and final position will be based upon which team won the most amount of games against other tied team during the regular season. Therefore every game counts so play hard!

Have a great season,
