BATTLE OF THE BEASTS
By far the most interesting matchup to watch during this season's roundball men's league is the battle between big men Aran Hare and Jerome James. Both easily over 6 feet in height dominate on both the offensive and defensive boards and are able to score at any given time when needed. This past week's battle between the two star's was spectacular to watch. Jerome seemed to be the more versatile player with a stronger jumpshot and more quickness off his first step to the hoop. However Aran was nevertheless the dangerous one when within 5 feet of the basket, able to post up and take two steps into a slam dunk at any moment. Most likely the most intense Roundball game thus far, the game ended with Jerome winning the one on one battle between competitor Aran. Jerome was able to score 24 points and gather 14 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and two steals. He also managed to hold Aran Hare to 20 points, which is the lowest amount of points the center has scored in a single game so far. Jerome's defensive game was stellar, however Aran ended the night the victor as his team went on to win the war. Aran also still managed to finish the game with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Team Strictly Business were able to match up against Aran by alternating between two strong big men in Jerome and newly acquired Derek Davis. Seeing as how this exciting game ended with the All City Chess Club winning 70 - 68 in the final seconds, this battle will be one to look forward to both in the upcoming weeks and potentially in the Roundball Finals.

Friday Night’s Biggest Loser
This Post is dedicated to Richard. Yes you Richard who took a hard fall on your leg and had to get carried off the court in the middle of your game on Friday. In My All White J’s Hitting buckets All Day
It didn't not take long for the White Sneakers to formulate a team for the Roundball men's program in Richmond. Once they heard of the program opening up to young men, they knew they wanted to compete. On any regular night during the week you can catch long time high school friends Jose Merderno and Allan Berger hooping it up at various open gyms across the city. It was only three years ago since they played in the first ever Roundball Basketball highschool program at JN Burnett. Three years later it is evident their games have evolved. Allan has equipped his shooting skills with a spectacular ball passing ability that has been sure to find the hands of teammates all over the court at any given time. And Jose has become a beast on both the offensive and defensive boards bringing down rebounds over men double his size while still being able to consistently hit that short range jump shot. This year the duo has added a quick and relentless point/shooting guard to their team in Brian Ng. Brian knows how to hit big shots when it counts and has taken on the leadership role for the team often showing the most passion when competing for the win. He has been known on the Thompson courts to get a hot shooting hand in a hurry and seems to be the quickest crossover to pull-up jump shooter in the league. Monday, November 15, 2010

A Young Richmond Men's Division Shows Signs of an Exciting Season to Come
Roundball Basketball is proud to have kicked off its first Men's league in Richmond this past Friday November 5th. The Men's division is quite young compared to that of the Surrey Men's program however opening night in Richmond kicked off with a lot of exitement and each game proved to show that the first men's Richmond season will be one to watch for.
In Game 1 a young team team coached and led by Karn Sharda won against the newly put together Strictly Business squad that is still in the process of adding players to their roster. Although the members of the Wildcats team were not all permanent members, they will definitely be a team to look out for during the rest of the season.
Game 2 was dominated by what seems to be a team that may be the favorites to win the Richmond Men's league this year. A young team of players from the recognized Palmer basketball program in previous years leads this team. Mark Kohl and Brandon Tait seemed to lead the way in the team's first game without the need of star Aron Hare who was not at the season opener. Much is to be expected of the All City Chess Club this season.
Game 3 was by far the most exciting game of Roundball Basketball's opening night, whereby two young and talented teams played their second games of the night. Surely both squads came out with more fire in their eyes, both looking for their first win of the season. In the end however thanks to 2 clutch three pointers in the 4th quarter along with 2 more in overtime, guard Brian Ng helped his team win the game in a very close and exciting battle between the White Sneakers and Strictly Business. Roundball Rivalries have already begun!
